HighKey Kids™ Group Piano/Keyboard

A four week class for beginning to intermediate level players to develop keyboarding skills with virtual collaboration and individual work.

Class description:

Great Bend Center for Music’s HighKey Kids™  online classes provide the tools and learning activities that help kids identify their innate musical strengths and explore their individual musical and audio interests.  For an overview of the program, click here to learn more and to watch a short video with highlights from class and an introduction to teachers and classes.

Appropriate for students at any level of skill or training, this online group studio class gives students an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and performance skills with the piano all while collaborating virtually with other students in the classroom. Students will receive training on the fundamentals and basics of the keyboard while being challenged with practicing individual and group performance pieces. Topics for the course will include:

  • Keyboard layout
  • Hand and finger position
  • Scales and chords
  • Reading music notation
  • Individual and group performance pieces



Classes are 45 minutes long and held once a week during a four-week term in Spring, Winter, and Fall.

Fall term schedule: 

  • Wednesdays at 4 PM Pacific (7 PM Eastern), October 12 – November 9


Class requirements:

Students must have a piano, electric keyboard, or MIDI keyboard in order to participate in this course. Participation requires parental support during and between class sessions, a tablet or laptop, and a reliable internet connection.
