Explore the captivating world of music through a conductor’s ear. Taught by Great Bend founder Matthew Melendez and offered through Olympic College Shelton, students in this course will survey the range of musical genres, periods, styles and composers while exploring the profound impact of music on society. What sets this course apart is the unique opportunity to be taught by a conductor with both the expertise and firsthand experience in interpreting and conducting music of multiple eras and forms, in addition to the course content students will gain a compelling perspective through the nuanced intricacies of color and texture that make music a truly awe-inspiring and transformative medium.

Class schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1-2:24PM, Sep 19 – Dec 7

With the exception of seniors utilizing a senior waiver to audit the course, attendees must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Olympic College. The 5-credit class is open to all students.
