About the Great Bend Chorale:
The Great Bend Chorale is an award-winning, un-auditioned choral ensemble open to all, age 14 and older, regardless of skill level or training. Led by Great Bend Center for Music’s founder, Matthew Melendez, the ensemble focuses primarily on choral-orchestral programs that are performed in collaboration with professional teaching artists.
This term we’ll be partnering with Quixote Communities Veteran Village residents in Shelton and Orting, as well as veterans in the community, in a program centered on musical expressions of healing. The program will alternate choral music on themes of healing by Eric Whitacre, Erics Esenvalds, Sean Kirchner and Frank Tichelli interspersed with anecdotes and short stories from participating veterans about their healing process.
Attendance & Rehearsals:
Spring term choristers will meet:
- Tuesdays at 6:30pm: Rehearsals are held in-person in the Faith Lutheran Church on consecutive Tuesdays beginning February 27;
- For one choir retreat day, Saturday, March 23, 10AM-4PM, also at Faith Lutheran;
- Concert rehearsal and performance logistics are still TBA but are planned around the period of May 9-12.
